About the Artist
Christiane Hinterman
My childhood was spent along the
winding shorelines of Lake
Michigan and in the  beauty of the
deciduous forest. Nature has
always offered me an unconditional
acceptance and comfort that has
guided me into adulthood.
My name is Christiane Hinterman. I was born and raised in Michigan and I will
always be thankful to the area for shaping a great part of me. I am the
youngest of four and was brought up in an active family where music, art
and travel were encouraged. Thanks family!

I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Parks, Recreation
and Tourism Resources with an emphasis in Interpretation; a form of education
used in parks, museums, etc. My studies were enhanced by opportunities to
study abroad in Kenya, Brazil and Mexico. Since graduation I have been
blessed to work with the government, non-profits, and commercial enterprises
in diverse corners of the world including Hawaii, Lake Superior, Texas,
Guatemala, Mexico, Colorado, California, New Mexico
, Wyoming and Montana.
All of
which have held great lessons for me.

In 2006 I received a Masters in Environmental Education from Lesley
University through an experiential program called the Audubon Expedition
Institute. While travelling by bus through Alaska, the desert Southwest,
and the Eastern seaboard,  camping under the stars, and living in an intentional
community of students and faculty, my understanding of the importance of
artistic expression was cemented.

Over the past few years I have decided to make a commitment to capturing
all that inspires me through art, photography and music. The things that
influence me the most are mountains, trees, wildflowers, water, clouds,
color, shape and the beauty and blunders of everyday human existence on this
amazing planet.

Recently I moved from lovely Leadville, Colorado and have relocated to beautiful
Whitefish, Montana. Here I am close to Glacier National Park as well as several
amazing natural areas that I can't wait to share with you through new pieces of
art so be sure to check back soon. As I still search for my "calling" I enjoy the
recreational opportunities of Montana, being with friends, working with children,
yoga, teaching in the outdoors, playing music, and of course taking in the scenery
and interpreting it through art.

I am excited to share my art with you. I hope my expressions of what impresses
me can make an impression upon you.

Thank you.
